Is Social Media really that important? As a business do we really need to embrace it? How do we capitalise on Social Media in the best possible way? What are the legal implications of Social Media?
These are just a few of the questions that networx addressed at yesterdays event entitled Social Media- the right way.
The event designed to highlight the importance of utilising Social Media and engaging best practise, was held at Aston Hall Hotel and attended by over 70 businesses based throughout the Yorkshire region.
Sharing the experience of the social media strategy adopted by networx, HR Manager Alex Murgatroyd who runs the highly successful LinkedIn Group Hot HR was accompanied by Commercial Manager Hayley Cayton and Client Services Manager Jayne Raw to outline ways in which LinkedIn and Facebook can be utilised as part of the recruitment strategy of every business.
Closing the event, Leading Employment Lawyer, Harmajinder Hayre of WardHadaway provided examples of case law and highlighting the need for businesses to ensure that Social Media Policies were in place and that businesses consider the potential problems which could be faced with the increased usage of Social Media.
The event proved to be a great success and plans are already being made to run similar events in Birmingham or London.

I'm starting a new business and I and kinda new to this whole social media monster, and I don't really have too much time to be on the internet all day trying to learn it. Is there a service that can do it for me?
social media
Unfortunately I have not yet come across a service that will do everything for you regarding social media but to be honest due to the nature of Social Media I beleive that no one can do things as well as you can - especially as an owner of the business. Your interaction needs to reflect you as a person and for some one else to do it for you means you lose that.
One key thing that I would say about Social Media is remember to Tell not Sell. Of course we are all in it to make money but Social Media is about showcasing your expertise so that when a potential client needs someone you are at the forefront of their mind.
Unfortunately it does take time but if you spend the time you will reap the awards.
I agree with some of your readers and will eagerly look forward to your coming updates. iPhone Developer
